A fertile, eroded volcanic landscape with thousand-year-old traditions. Original villages, lonely valleys and bizarre rock formations made from tuff, form the background, which can be quite overwhelming. It is harvest time and everywhere the villagers are preparing grape juice and tomato juice.
Programme 18/09 – 25/09/2010
Day 1
Transfer to the hotel, evening meal and time to get to know each other.
Days 2 – 7
- Every morning 8.00–9.30 Yoga, followed by brunch/breakfast until noon.
- On five days , either in the late afternoon or after the evening meal we will spend approx. 90 minutes dancing, in our own courtyard, in an adjacent valley, or in a vaulted cellar.
- On two separate afternoons we will cook together, in an introduction to the many varied vegan possibilities of Turkish Cuisine.
- On one particular day we will have a half-day’s walking trip, through the late summer flora and fauna of the Uzengi Valley. We will take a rest by a clear bubbling mineral-water source. In the evening of that day we will visit a performance of the whirling dervishes of the Mevlevi Order, held in an old restored caravansaray. On that day there will be no dancing because of the heavy programme.
- Another day we will take a walk from Uchisar to Goreme, where we will spend some time relaxing in a Turkish bath (hamam)
Day 8
Transfer to Kayseri airport or to the town of Urgup.
Anyone who wishes can go on a short cultural tour before or after the main programme and/or in Istanbul. Please contact me for details.
